North Tyneside Carers’ Centre is seeking to appoint a Family Support Worker who will work with young carers aged 5-18, who care for a family member due to illness, disability, mental health difficulties or alcohol/substance misuse.

The Family Support Worker will bring about long lasting change for young carers to enable them to have the same opportunities as other children and young people.  Providing practical and emotional support to meet the needs of the whole family, the post holder will have a specific focus upon the needs of young carers and reducing inappropriate or excessive levels of care.

The post holder will:

• have experience of working with children, young people and their families
• an understanding of social care, health and education services
• be able to adopt a whole family approach
• possess excellent group facilitation skills
• demonstrate good communication and organisational skills
• work as part of a team
• have the ability to work flexible hours
