The Carers’ Centre building may be closed until further notice but all staff are now working from home and we will be offering the best service we can. We are delivering our services remotely, undertaking regular check ins with carers and keeping carers connected. We are delivering weekly online activities including peer support groups, mindfulness sessions and a pub quiz. We are also suggesting activities available online each week that you might want to join in with and are emailing out a weekly newsletter.  If you would like the newsletter or would be like to be sent a link so you can join in with our activities, contact our advice line and please keep visiting our website, Facebook pages and Twitter feed for updated information.

The Carers’ Centre is here to listen and offer help if you want to talk. Our Advice Line (0191 643 2298) will be open as usual for information, advice and support:

  • Monday to Wednesday 10am – 4pm
  • Thursday 1pm – 4pm
  • Friday 10am – 4pm

If you contact us and go through to voicemail, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also contact us by email at enquiries@northtynesidecarers.co.uk or use our new Live Chat facility which you can find at the bottom left of each page.

The current situation is bringing a range of challenges to many of us and it can be very difficult, but by following guidance on social distancing, or staying at home, you are helping to protect yourself, your family, the NHS and your community. You may be worried about your health or the people that you care for and it is very important that you take care of your mind as well as your body during this difficult time and get further support if you need it.

In the meantime, however we have put together a range of ideas for you to consider.

Regular Pilates can improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension.  Try this gentle workout recorded specially for carers by local tutor, Claire Heslop.
