Are you interested in supporting unpaid family carers across the North of Tyne area to maximise their income and return to and sustain employment?
North Tyneside Carers’ Centre, Newcastle Carers and Carers Northumberland are excited to deliver a new project to expand provision for unpaid carers who are looking to return to work, or, for those who are in work and struggling to juggle work alongside caring. This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with the North of Tyne Combined Authority as the lead authority.
The postholder will provide specialist benefits and legal advice to project staff and to working age carers across the North of Tyne, who are unemployed and/or struggling to pursue their goals such as retaining employment. They will undertake benefits checks and provide tailored information, advice and guidance to maximise carers’ income. They will liaise with other organisations, including Citizens Advice, to provide clinics, drop-in sessions, and deliver training sessions to support carers with benefit entitlement concerns.
The postholder will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience providing benefits advice. They will have the ability to independently and confidently research and demonstrate learning in a range of contexts, and, be self -motivated and capable of responding independently to problems and situations, using skills and initiative to work towards mutually beneficial solutions. They will also have a strong commitment to inclusive team-working and be flexible and innovative in their approach. Excellent organisational and IT skills, as well as good interpersonal skills are essential.
