This month we have been focused on the topic of technology and the digital world to show all the ways carers can get some extra help and support.
Whether you’re navigating benefit entitlements, managing your wellbeing, or looking for ways to connect with others in similar situations, there are lots of digital resources that can help make things easier. This blog is your one stop guide for helpful, and easy-to-access online resources that can make your caring role more manageable.
Information and advice
Carers UK Carers UK is one of the UK’s leading carer organisations. They offer guidance on finances, employment, health and legal rights. Their online forum also gives you a place to connect with others.
NHS This website offers a clear overview of your rights as a carer, links to local services, and practical advice for caring for specific health conditions.
GOV.UK Use this site to check eligibility for Carer’s Allowance, apply for benefits, or access adult social care services. If you need help with any of that, please get in touch as we have a team who can support you.
Online communities
Mobilise A vibrant digital platform designed by carers, for carers. Offers weekly online meetups, coaching calls, and a friendly online community.
Carers FIRST Open to all carers aged 18+, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Carers FIRST’s Carers Forum aims to give carers the opportunity to chat with others who may find themselves in similar situations, offer each other advice and support and share experiences about what helped them. Carers UK also has an online forum.
Apps
Jointly (by Carers UK) A care coordination app that lets you share tasks, notes and medication records with family members or other carers.
Medisafe A medication reminder app to help stay on top of prescriptions.
MindShift or Calm For carers looking after their mental wellbeing, these mindfulness and mental health apps can help manage stress and anxiety.

Turn2Us Check benefit entitlements and grants available to carers and those they support.

Local support
North Tyneside Carers’ Centre If you live locally, we offer one-to-one support, groups, training and more. Get in touch for advice or to connect with other carers. We have a range of events and training sessions, both online and in person, that could be a real help.
There is a lot of information on the council’s website for carers.
