You’re not alone this summer

This month we have been focusing on how to cope in the summer when your routines change and expectations are high.

At North Tyneside Carers’ Centre, we know that caring can sometimes feel isolating. That’s why we’re committed to making sure carers know they’re never alone.

We want carers to know that throughout summer we’re continuing to offer a range of groups, activities and support sessions designed to bring carers together.

Whether you’re looking to meet others who understand your experiences, take a well-deserved break, learn something new, or just enjoy a chat over a cup of tea, there’s a place for you.

We have a range of monthly groups, including for carers of people with dementia, and another for mental health carers. We also recognise not all carers are available in the day so we now have an evening carers group.

They are all a chance to meet others in similar situations and share experiences.

To see when our groups will take place from now until December, click here.

We understand that it can be difficult to walk into a group or activity for the first time, so you will be greeted by a worker or volunteer who will make you feel welcome. They will offer you refreshments and introduce you to other carers. If you prefer we can arrange for one of our workers to contact you before you attend and discuss your concerns or go with you.

If you’re an unpaid carer and you’ve been thinking about getting involved, we’d love to welcome you. Whether you’ve been caring for years or have only recently recognised yourself as a carer, we are here to support you every step of the way.

You may know someone who is caring for a family member or friend. If you do, encourage them to reach out. Many people don’t identify as carers and may not realise the support available to them.

This summer, let’s continue to look out for one another and strengthen our community. That way we can help make sure no carer feels they have to face this alone.

If you’d like to find out more about our groups, activities or the support we offer, get in touch with our team. We’re here to help.
