Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update – Tuesday 24th March 2020

After the Prime Minister’s address to the nation last night about the country being placed under lock down, I want to reassure carers that we are doing everything we can to provide you with support during these very difficult times.

The Carers’ Centre building is closed until further notice but all staff are now working from home and we will be offering the best service we can. We are considering how we can deliver our services remotely, undertake regular check ins with carers aged 70 + and keep carers connected. Please keep visiting our website for updated information.

Our Advice Line (0191 643 2298) will be open as usual for information, advice and support:

Monday to Wednesday 10am – 4pm
Thursday 1pm – 4pm
Friday 10am – 4pm

If you contact us and go through to voicemail, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also contact us by email at enquiries@northtyneisdecarers.co.uk or via the contact page on our website.

North Tyneside Council has established a COVID-19 helpline for any resident needing support or advice – 0345 2000 101. Leaflets will be going out to all households over the next couple of weeks to promote this number as well as an offer of on-line help.

North Tyneside VODA has been focussing their efforts on supporting residents who wish to volunteer their time to help those who are self-isolating. This has involved working with newly emerging online groups as well as established charities and North Tyneside Council.

Carers UK has also produced some really helpful information about the current government guidance as it relates to carers. This can be found at:

If you unable to leave the home to get essential shopping you need or collect your prescription, please ring us on 0191 643 2298.

Stay safe and stay well
