Carer’s Leave Begins on 6th April!

We are nearly there. After years of campaigning, on the 6th of April 2 million employees with unpaid caring responsibilities will be able to take up to five days of Carer’s Leave.

This leave is unpaid but some employers are volunteering to make it paid. You can use it for scheduled appointments and other necessary duties of being a carer. It does not have to be an emergency.

The new law says employees can take Carer’s Leave in full or half days, or a whole block of five days, and must give at least 3 days notice for 1 or half a day’s leave. To see the full details go to Unpaid carer’s leave
