You don’t have to face winter alone

When the evenings draw in and opportunities to get out become fewer, caring can sometimes feel like a lonely experience.
At North Tyneside Carers’ Centre, we want every unpaid carer to know one thing: you don’t have to face winter alone.
Whatever your circumstances, our friendly and experienced team is here to listen, understand and help you find the support that’s right for you. That could mean practical advice, or emotional support or even just having someone who understands what you are going through.
One of the most important things we offer is the opportunity to connect with other carers.
Our peer support groups and social activities bring people together who understand the realities of caring.
They’re an opportunity to share experiences, make new friendships, enjoy some time away from everyday responsibilities and remember that you’re not on your own.
Sometimes a friendly conversation and a cup of tea can make a real difference to someone’s day.
To find out more about our groups visit our website.
We understand it can be difficult to walk into a group or activity for the first time, so you will be greeted by a worker or volunteer who will make you feel welcome. They will offer you refreshments and introduce you to other carers. If you prefer we can arrange for one of our workers to contact you before you attend and discuss your concerns or go with you.
For our young carers we also make sure that they have time away from caring to have fun and get support where needed too.
We provide activities all year round for both primary and secondary school aged young people. These are such a great opportunity for them to try new things and just relax with their friends.
At North Tyneside Carers’ Centre, we’re here for you, whether you’re facing a particular challenge or would simply like to know more about the support available.
This winter, let’s make sure no carer feels alone.
If you’re an unpaid carer in North Tyneside, we’d love you to get in touch.
