North Tyneside Carers’ Centre has a well-established reputation for offering high quality practical and emotional support to unpaid carers. The pandemic has had a significant impact on carers. This is a new post to help us meet increased demand for our services. If you are a caring and compassionate person who would like to work with carers to make a real difference to their lives, we would like to hear from you.
The post holder will:
- Supervise and support a small team of Carers Information and Advice Workers
- Allocate new referrals and monitor the caseload of the Carers Advice and Information Workers.
- Provide tailored information, advice and emotional support to carers; over the telephone and face to face where needed by:
- signposting and encouraging carers to access the range of general and mental health specific centre activities and services that can help them in their caring role and maintain their wellbeing.
- maintaining a good understanding of the health and social care system and local services and using their knowledge to support carers to achieve their aspirations
Ideally the postholder will have experience of or be able to demonstrate they can supervise staff or volunteers. They must have a good understanding of the health and social care system and the legislation and policies affecting carers; experience of providing information and advice to individuals, in person or over the telephone to achieve positive outcomes; experience of assessing need and risk; excellent verbal & written communication skills; a genuine desire to improve the lives of carers in North Tyneside and must be approachable and caring.
