Payroll giving
Payroll Giving is a tax-effective way for an employee to give a regular or one-off dona- tion direct from their gross salary to charity and can give as much, or as little as they wish. Even a small regular donation over a year will enable us to improve the emo- tional and physical well being of young and adult carers in North Tyneside.

How can I donate through my pay?
If your company currently offers a payroll giving scheme, you can advise them that you would like to donate to North Tyneside Carers Centre through your pay. Simply download our payroll giving form and return to your payroll department or our payroll giving department and the Carers’ Centre will take care of the rest.
Benefits for the employers
- Research shows that payroll giving offers real business benefits including:
- Improving Corporate Social Responsibility Boosts employee morale & sense of team building & therefore, can aid staff retention
- Aids recruitment
To set up a payroll giving scheme within your organisation, you must sign up with a HMRC-approved – Payroll Giving Agency (PGA).
An employee asks their payroll department to deduct regular charitable donations from their gross pay. This is then passed to the PGA, which sends the donations to the appropriate charities.
PGAs usually deduct a small administration charge for each donation. Sometimes the employer pays this on the donor’s behalf.
