Professionals’ Training
At North Tyneside Carers’ Centre we are committed to raising carer issues amongst other professional organisations and individuals. We believe that by raising professional awareness of carers and the issues they face, we can help identify and support a greater number of carers. In doing this we help reduce feelings of social isolation and helplessness which carers so often experience.
Individuals and organisations can play a major part in supporting carers, whether it be by supporting colleagues in their own organisation, or a member of the public, by signposting carer services in the community. They can only do this when they are aware of who a carer is and the services which exist to support carers.
Carer Awareness Sessions
Carers and staff from the Centre have delivered carer awareness training into numerous organisations across:-
- health and social care teams
- local authority departments
- voluntary groups
- University students.
The training is flexible and can accommodate short presentations at team meetings or formal lectures up to two hours long. The longer session allows greater scope for the full emotional impact facing carers to be explored and is particularly powerful and hard hitting.
If any individual or group wishes the centre to deliver training into their organisation please contact Julie Tait, Development & Training Manager on (0191) 643 2298 or e-mail julie.tait@ntcarers.co.uk.
