Carer Support Services
Three in five of us will become carers at some point in our lives. Most of us will just accept it, get on and do the best we can, because it’s somebody we care about very much.
We appreciate how difficult it can be for you as a carer. Our team of workers are here to support you with the challenges and stresses you face on a daily basis. No matter who you are or how you are coping the Carers’ Centre is here at the very least to offer you a listening ear. Our core services include:
Our Information Team can provide you with information and advice relating to your caring role. This includes information regarding specific illnesses and disabilities, short breaks, money matters, help in the home etc. They can also signpost you to other support services in the area. The team provides regular newsletters and information bulletins to advise you of issues which may affect your caring role.
Our Carer Support Team can guide you through your caring role offering support tailored specifically to your needs. This may be advice on benefits available, support in/into employment or training, support to access leisure time, the chance to offload and/or support or advocacy at care team meetings.
Our CAST Carer Support Team are based within North Tyneside Adult Social Services Community, Assessment and Support Teams to provide support and guidance to carers during their carer’s assessment and time-limited support to meet identified needs. A carer’s assessment recognises your contribution and if eligible entitles you to services within your own right.
Our Mental Health Carer Support Worker provides specialist information, advice and guidance on mental health conditions, recovery pathways and coping strategies to enable you to feel confident to continue in your caring role, as well as looking after your own health and well-being.
