Autism Friendly Cinema at the Silverlink

There is going to be an Autism Friendly screening of the Muppets at the Silverlink Cinema in North Tyneside. The film starts at 11:30 on Sunday 19th of February

What makes the screenings autism friendly?

The screenings are recommended to anyone who would benefit from the subtle alterations made to the cinema experience, because of their sensory differences and because it allows them to attend newly released films with friends and family in an inclusive environment. Films are screened with the lights turned up, the volume turned down and with the trailers and adverts removed. People can feel free to move around the cinema or make a noise as they feel comfortable, however all guests (where necessary) should be suitably supervised by their designated carer throughout the performance.

Carers’ Coffee morning

All Carers are warmly invited to the Coffee Mornings which will be held from 10 am to 11:30 am.

Carers’ Lunch Club

The Carers lunch club meets on the third Thursday of each at different venues around North Tyneside. Contact the Centre for locations of future lunches on 0191 643 2298. All Carers are warmly invited.

Survey for Carers

Carers’ Week is happening in June this year and to accompany the week of awareness raising  there is a survey as a way of tracking the health and happiness of the 6 million or so unpaid carers in the UK. It forms the basis of  news for Carers Week and there have been good results in the past from issues first raised in the survey. ADHD Parent Carer Group

This is a self help group for parents of children who have ADHD. It meets twice a month at the Carers Centre in North Shields. Please get in touch to find out more or come along to the Group and see for yourself. The group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 10 am to 12 noon.
